Federal Way Child Abuse Attorneys
It is frightening to have police show up at your door or to be questioned by social workers from Child Protective Services. We know how heart-wrenching these situations are for children and for parents. We can investigate, calm things down, and explain the process to you. We can also help you prove to the authorities the truth about their abuse or neglect allegations.
Bruce Clement worked in the Washington State Attorney General's Office (AGO) for 17 years before moving to private practice. At the AGO he handled hundreds of child abuse and neglect cases for the Department of Social and Health Services, and for two years was its lead trainer for Washington State caseworkers on the law of child abuse. He wrote a handbook for caseworkers on this subject, and received an award for seminars on child abuse conducted across the state for county prosecutors. He uses this insider's perspective to understand the source of the complaints, reveal the truth or falsity of the allegations, and show the Court what course of action will serve the best interests of the children.
- Clement Law Center will do everything possible to prevent your child from being wrongfully taken away and placed in foster care.
- If CPS has taken your child into protective custody, we can help you take the right steps to show CPS and the court when you are ready to resume custody.
- We will represent you in juvenile dependency and termination cases to make sure that the court considers and understands all of the relevant evidence.
Stepping In as a Grandparent or Relative
We represent grandparents, aunts/uncles, adult siblings, godparents or other parties in petitioning the court for non-parental custody in abuse or neglect cases. If you believe that the child would be better off with family members than in foster care, we can work with CPS and the court on your behalf to have the child officially placed with you. CPS has a statutory obligation to give families preference for out-of-home placement of children who have been abused or neglected by their biological parents.
