When the divorce dust settles, what do you do with your stuff?

Though most people will argue that divorce is one of the hardest things you will ever had to go through, some people might say that it's the aftermath that's the trickiest to navigate. That's often due in part because of the items you have collected over the years--some with emotional ties, some without--that now must be divided amongst the two spouses. But what do you do with those marriage specific items, such as your wedding dress or rings, after a divorce?

That's exactly the question one woman asked herself after her divorce. She also wondered, like many divorcees here in Washington, what she was going to do with her life, especially when it came to returning to the workforce. For her, unemployment rates were still high and it was difficult to find a job so she decided to tailor a job best suited for her situation and experience. Thus was born the idea for Dreams Recycled.

Launched in March, the start-up business allows users to sell the items from their failed marriages and relationships while simultaneously connecting with other people in similar situations. As some people might say, the site offers a way of purging an item with too many bad memories attached in an almost therapeutic way.

Property divisions can be challenging ordeals, but when you don't know what to do with an item after the divorce process, those frustrations can become tenfold. Whether you're going through a typical divorce or a high asset one, having a plan for your post-divorce things can help mitigate some of that frustration, helping you to move on faster with your new life.
