After two years, Kutcher and Moore reach divorce settlement

On Behalf of | Nov 5, 2013 | High-Asset Divorce |

Washington residents may be interested to learn that, after a prolonged battle, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher are reportedly ready to finalize their divorce. The couple announced in Nov. 2011 that they were ending their marriage and Kutcher officially filed for divorce a year later. Since that time, both stars have reportedly started new relationships.

The main reason that this high asset divorce took so long to negotiate was a disagreement regarding how much money Moore should receive from Kutcher. The star of the hit television series “Two and a Half Men” was reported by Forbes to be one of the highest paid television actors, earning $24 million in 2013 alone. The couple’s fortune is reported to be as high as $300 million. Moore claimed that she was instrumental to the success of many of Kutcher’s tech startup investments and therefore is entitled to approximately $25 million to reflect her contribution to his businesses.

Problems reportedly began when Kutcher was alleged to have had an affair in San Diego with a young woman, causing Moore to reportedly suffer a breakdown that led her to enter rehab. Sources indicated that Moore used Kutcher’s alleged infidelity to seek spousal support despite the fact that her personal wealth is estimated at approximately $150 million. A source reported that Moore later waived her request for support and that both spouses are now happy with their settlement.

For people who are unfamiliar with the legal system, trying to handle a divorce alone can seem confusing or overwhelming. Disagreements over issues such as property division and asset valuation may make it difficult for an estranged couple to reach a satisfactory settlement. An attorney who has experience in family and divorce law may be able to help negotiate an appropriate agreement.
