Jenifer Lopez’s new movie touches base on her divorce

There is no doubting that Jennifer Lopez has had some fairly rocky relationships over the years. But when she tied the knot with fellow singer Marc Anthony, many Washington residents thought that her stormy sailing was finally over. For six years things appeared to be fine, they even had two children together. But in 2012 that all changed when husband Marc Anthony filed for divorce, claiming irreconcilable differences.

It’s been a difficult process, the couple told People.com in a statement. In the original divorce filing, Anthony allegedly requested that Lopez be denied spousal support requests and asked that they each pay for their own attorney fees as well. Then came the process of child custody and child support, something that made this high asset divorce particularly difficult.

Possibly in an attempt to heal, Lopez has decided to touch on aspects of her divorce in her new 3D concert movie entitled ‘Dance Again.’ As she explained to a reporter recently, the divorce forced her to go through a big change in her life; and as crazy as it sounds, she wanted to put it on camera.

It’s not clear at this time how much of the breakup will be revealed in the movie but chances are Lopez has already spoken to Anthony about what will and will not be shown. An amicable split between the two singers could mean that anything revealed in the movie is not construed as menacing to the other spouse which could prevent further litigation in the future.

While most high asset divorces don’t end in a tell-all movie, most do require effective communication between both partners. This is especially true if the couple wants to have an amicable separation with relatively low emotional fallout. It’s definitely something some Washington couples will keep in mind if they ever find themselves in a similar situation.
