While most people in the state of Washington know what it's like to go through a rough patch in their marriage, very few people know that these rough patches can be ten times more difficult for military families. Forced to endure months away from their loved ones because of deployments, military officers and their families can often times find the challenges of military life too difficult to bear.
Residents in Washington are no strangers to the civil rights battle currently swirling around same-sex couples. Only just recently allowed to marry here in Washington, same-sex couples have fought years of prejudice to be able to marry their significant other. But now it appears that they are fighting a new battle: the right to divorce.
With the whirlwind of media surrounding the gay-rights issues currently in front of the highest court in the land, if you asked anyone in the state of Washington to name at least one of the justices they probably could. But if you asked that same person to name a U.S. Supreme Court justice who had gone through a divorce, the answer would be quite different.
